Sierra Sage provides high-quality addiction treatment for Nevada Medicaid recipients with substance use disorders and co-existing mental health issues. We ensure members of our community have options to get the help they need.
We offer individual counseling sessions conducted in a private one-on-one setting. Here, clients are able to identify and articulate their issues, discover how they are being affected by substance abuse, and learn coping mechanisms that are healthy instead of harmful.
For some, hearing about and learning from others gives them the support they need to address their own mental health and substance use issues. In group therapy, clients meet at least three times a week for at least three hours to describe and discuss their issues with drug or alcohol addiction. We utilize a host of treatment modalities during group therapy that includes but is not limited to:
- Cognitive-behavioral therapy for substance use disorders
- Integrated cognitive-behavioral therapy for treating depression as well as substance use disorders
- Dialectical behavior therapy
Group therapy provides an environment of shared experiences, processing, and healing. It’s also a proven way to develop the network of support services and community necessary to make a lasting recovery.
Within our therapeutic programs, we offer dual diagnosis treatment to help individuals struggling with co-occurring disorders. This condition arises when individuals have a substance use disorder at the same time as mental health issues such as depression or anxiety. Dual diagnosis treatment is the method through which both conditions–addiction and the mental health issue–are addressed. Doing so vastly reduces the risk of relapse and improves the overall wellbeing of clients. It’s relatively common for individuals struggling with drug or alcohol abuse to also have an underlying mental health issue. Often, individuals are unaware that they are suffering from depression, anxiety disorders, or trauma like PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). Individuals will self-medicate using drugs or alcohol to address the distress they are experiencing due to their mental health issue. This greatly increases their risk of progressing from substance abuse to addiction.
Sierra Sage provides quality treatment to members of our community who are struggling with addiction and a co-occurring mental health condition. Often, individuals who abuse drugs or alcohol do so to mask an underlying mental health issue such as depression or anxiety. It’s not uncommon for individuals to not even realize they have this unlying mental health condition. Using drugs or alcohol becomes a form of self-medicating. Unfortunately, it only makes the condition worse and increases the risk of dependency or addiction. Similarly, substance use disorder can cause serious mental health issues to arise more easily in an individual.
Therefore, Sierra Sage places its focus on helping individuals address both issues. We specifically contracted with NV Medicaid so that we can provide care to those who do not have an employer-sponsored health plan. We believe that everyone who wants help has access to quality treatment. Our addiction treatment center makes sure to address the root causes and stressors affecting an individual’s substance abuse and lay a foundation for continued healing and recovery.
